Once again TNA going for a former WWE wrestler.

Can't they go after someone young and build them up?

Well they have signed The Young Bucks.

It seems they are trying to pack their roster with as many big names as possible so they get a high rating on monday...

....we've got Hogan guaranteed, Hall and Waltman supposedly and RVD, Jeff Hardy and Ric Flair rumoured.

If tna is to break through it needs a mix - new talent but also big names so people have a reason to watch for a few weeks

Yeah Izzy is right its getting that mix right. But its also about getting the right mix in the main event. You need guys like Morgan, Sting, AJ, Joe, Daniels who have never been WWE champion along with guys like Angle, RVD etc who have been.

What you dont want is a guy coming in and within a few months being TNA champion.... because that says that WWE's rejected talent is better than the TNA guys.

D is also right RVD vs AJ Styles and RVD vs Kurt Angle could be feuds that could get fans to defect.... much like the Goldberg streak in WCW.... people wanted to watch that!

Nothing could get me to watch TNA over WWE on the 4th but i'd certainly tune into TNA if a feud interested me. I can record matches and watch them later but a few quality build ups and feuds is the way they'd get me to watch.

True, if a guy is a vet, recognised name and can still go in the ring, then its great, RVD is one of those guys, he isn't washed up like a Hall or Flair, Hogan should be the exception to the rule on shear name value alone.

Jeff Hardy???  I don't see that one coming true.  He's possibly got a big money match at Wrestlemania if he wants it.  I can't see him going to TNA.

Here's more rumors

If you thought Bret Hart was a huge deal for WWE, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

According to our source, in addition to Scott Hall signing the dotted line in time for TNA's Monday Night Impact special on January 4, it has been confirmed that there will be at least a few more big names joining him.

There is a 95% that former WWE superstar Ken "Mr. Kennedy" Anderson will make his TNA debut this Monday night. Before you discredit this source, think about it. Anderson has been relatively quiet. He took some Nu-Wrestling Evolution and Hulkamania Tour international bookings, but has not popped up much, if at all stateside in a wrestling capacity. Anderson even said on his Twitter that he wasn't a free agent. This was in response to a fan mentioning he was “the hottest free agent in wrestling.”

Could he have meant that he was focusing on his acting career? Could he have meant that he was focusing on his acting career?

Yes.

However, last time I checked, Anderson wasn't getting employed at the rate of a Steve Austin or Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

As previously mentioned, Scott Hall is practically a lock to appear, as is the former X-Pac, Sean Waltman. More than likely, Hall and Waltman will reunite with....you guessed it—Kevin Nash, to relive their New World Order (NWO) glory days.

Former WWE/ECW Champion Rob Van Dam has about a 70% chance of showing up. RVD wants to work a light schedule, which TNA can provide and remember, the dude is tight with Hulk Hogan, who will definitely make his Impact debut on Monday.

Here's the real bombshell. We are told there is a 75% chance, if not better, that former ECW owner, WWE manager/commentator, and creative genius Paul Heyman will debut for TNA on Monday night. In fact, it is believed that he may be the first person you see on your television screen, assuming the now non-WWE contracted Shane McMahon doesn't decide to take a stroll (now that would freeze hell over) to Orlando, Florida.

On a side note, if Heyman does debut for TNA on Monday night, it further pieces everything together. RVD and Anderson did the Hulkamania Tour. RVD is tight with Hogan. Heyman is loyal to Anderson and RVD. Heyman can provide the creativity and sense that has been lacking in TNA's booking for quite some time.

And here's some food for thought. Tommy Dreamer left WWE's ECW brand. He is actually not contracted by WWE anymore. In fact, he can't appear on television for a major promotion until a designated 90-day period ends. I ask you readers this.

Who said Dreamer would go to TNA as a wrestler?

If Heyman shocks the world Monday night, expect Dreamer to be backstage and involved in some creative/road agent capacity in the very near future (aka a non-televised/non-active wrestling role).

Lastly, we were told that none of us should be surprised if Booker T returns to Raw this Monday night for WWE, as a way of Vince McMahon letting TNA know “I won't acknowledge you, but I know you're there.”

[Editor's Note: Booker T told me in our interview with him last month that he would be on tour in Puerto Rico early January, so take the above statement for what it's worth.]

Hulk Hogan seems to be doing what he's said since joining TNA: I'm shaking things up.

RVD is hardly a former WWE guy... it isn't like bringing him someone old and washed up

RVD had to put a muzzle on his style due to making the Main Event old guys look bad in WWE

In TNA with the handcuffs off

Can u see RVD in a **** Ultimate X match? Are u kidding me?

If u wouldn't tune into to a RVD,Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels 4 way X division battle, u aren't a wrestling fan

Lets see, watch that or DX do their normal dumbshit? HMMMMMMMMMM

Thats what is cool about RVD though.. if he won the title, it wouldn't look bad at all cause every wrestling fan knows, RVD got a bullshit deal in WWE

In WWE's defence they gave him the ECW and WWE Title at the same time and he screwed it up getting busted with Sabu, drugs in their car driving the wrong way.  He also had some cracking matches there, vs. Jeff Hardy @ Invasion was superb.

What i'm saying is simple on the 4th i'll be watching RAW.... i'm not even sure i can watch impact in the UK. I'd probally download TNA.

RVD is one of my favourite wrestlers ever and his Match with Jerry Lynn @LD is in my top 3 matches of all time. The guy is a legend as far as i'm concerned. But he was WWE champion and despit being 100 times better than most of the WWE rejects TNA have picked up, i still feel keeping the title on AJ or a guy who has never been champion in WWE is the best way forward for TNA.

And like Hammy said RVD screwed himself in WWE and is still on good terms with WWE. I'd love TNA to get great and for their to be two companies fighting it out coz that means both programs will improve.... but to do that you have to be original with a mix of Original and Established stars.

On Paper RVD, AJ, Angle, Morgan, Sting, Joe, Daniels and Kennedy looks like an exciting bunch of Main eventers and the best thing is that only 2 of them have held the WWE title. To me thats the way forward. Not recreating nWo or bringing in guys that are well past their best.

Thats what is cool about RVD.. he doesn't really care about titles. Remember when he was ECW TV champ for like 50 years when everyone clearly knew he should've been the world champ.

Hogan wants to make AJ a star for instance.. he wants when AJ goes to an airport, he gets mobbed. I like it.

WWE are just fuckin hypocritical as usual.. Randy Orton fails 8 million marijuana and roid tests and doesn't get reprimanded. He was on a huge List of athletes involved with a huge steroid controversy..

thats worse than RVD smoking a little pot.

In his latest blog, Rob Van Dam has said he will not be appearing on either RAW or iMPACT! tomorrow night:

“This Monday kicks off the new ratings war between WWE and TNA-like I have to tell you! I admit, I am interested in the hype. In fact, I feel like I’m involved with this new era just because of the ginormous rumors involving me and a return. I’m going to say this-even though I know it won’t do much good-don’t be mad at me that you tuned in to see your favorite wrestler and I wasn’t there. I’m going to be watching with you.”
