Drew McIntyre - This guy is Great (Contains Spoilers)
« on: February 27, 2010, 05:01:22 pm »
WWE really messed up by having Drew McIntyre get beat cleanly tonight by Kane. His undefeated streak should have continued. I may be in the minority but Drew has everything it takes to be a future world champ (yes, I know that is his gimmick) and he is getting the push that Sheamus did. The difference is Drew is good on the mic and everything from his look to new music to promos to attitude screams Champ.

He's come quite far from his pairing with Squire Dave Taylor in late 06.

I would have booked him to win MITB at Mania but perhaps he will take it at the MITB PPV this year.

I think it was time for him to lose. Now that he has lost a match you know he can be beat. Now he can just start a new streak and continue his monster push.

McIntyre has what it takes to be a future world champ, but of coarse he is a while away from that.

He should have lost to someone who could benefit from beating him,not to Kane on a Smackdown. Someone like Bryan Danielson, well in a few months.

Yeah he is one for the future for sure. He reminds me of the original HHH when he was Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

I dont think you are in the minority many people have been praising him of late.

12 months is a long time in Wrestling but i'd expect him to be a major part of Mania 2011.

He needs that Breakthrough feud yet though and i'm sure that many see him as a future champion.

Plus HHH likes him.... so thats it really haha

It may sound simple (or biased coming from me :P) but it's good to see a Scottish guy on WWE TV. Obviously most of the current WWE roster is American, so when you get a guy like McIntyre (or Regal or Sheamus or whoever) they usually automatically stand out. It makes a nice change.

It's good that they haven't done what they probably would have done in the past and made his nationality his main/only interesting point. Same with Sheamus. I like McIntyre's cocky, "I'm untouchable" persona that he's developed. Thankfully they didn't go down the route of making him wear a kilt or dye his hair ginger or something. The WWE are catching up to the fact that other countried aren't fille with primitive savages. :P Though I await to see what happens with the next Samoan signing....

^ Don't forget the Braveheart mockery of his last feud, his heritage has not been ignored, thankfully its not part of his gimmick either.

I like him in many respects, his promos are decent and I'm really liked his new entrance, the video playing as the music builds before he comes out, it really has the "This is a star" attitude to it, to someone new watching it, this highlights him as one of the guys.

Match wise I'm still indifferent, I'm yet to see a classic with him, he had some very good encounters with John Morrison, but for the most part, nothing that makes me think, Drew has a match this week, I can't wait!

It'll be interesting to see what his Wrestlemania role is now, could we actually see a prestigious Intercontinental Title match?  :o  I mean surely with this push he won't be left off the card.

Who is  gonna be left on SD to take him on? Punk/Rey is a given, pretty much.JoMo? Well, they kind of had that feud already.
I agree, he is getting far too big of a push to be left off Mania. Drew has to be on the main card not in that for the DVD only battle royal they always seem to have.

There's no doubt in my mind he'll be on the card, they clearly rate him too much.  They could have one of these "Last Chance Battle Royals", as they often do, and he wins it to get the final spot in MITB.

Have you actually seen that much of him apart from the odd PPV appearance?  I thought you didn't get Smackdown?

HHH disagrees!
I'm not sure what they are doing with him though after reading this weeks SD spoilers.

Edited the thread title to say it contains spoilers because anyone watching the show this week would guess what happens after reading these comments. Incidently I still say he's winning a last chance Battle Royal and nabbing the final spot!  ;)

Seeing him on PPV, I think he is avg. if he wrestles better on SD than he does on a PPV, u have a problem.

In fairness his last "PPV" bout was with Kane.  His bouts were enjoyable with John Morrison, yet as mentioned he's yet to have a top 5 star esque match, I like him a lot promo wise.
