Paul Heyman & ECW Stable to Invade TNA?
« on: March 19, 2010, 09:08:50 pm »
Both Tommy Dreamer and Taz tweeted about a get together last night with Bubba Ray Dudley and Paul Heyman. They teased about rumors getting started. The idea of a Heyman-led ECW faction coming to TNA has been talked about for some time, so it's no surprise. My gut says Dreamer is likely going and Heyman is less likely.

A stable would be alright , hope they don't have them trying to take over or any thing like that.

Lots of factions after power - perhaps mirrors the real life TNA

I say this isnt likely to hurt ratings so give it a go

A few wrestlers are going to invade TNA?

What an original, innovative concept......

Will there be a Hogan heel turn this time as well?

C'mon we all know wrestling is about cycles - if something happened > it never happened and after 5 years all angles are fair game again

I don't think that's a problem providing they are reusing good angles

I agree with that but I think we can all agree that the "invasion' concept is completely worn out.

There's more things a company getting more attention can do. If all they can come up with is 60 year old men and a dead federation "invade", consider it already over and just sell it to Vince now.

I think Heyman is smart enough to realize that this isn't a very good idea for him to become involved with.  He seems a lot happier writing columns for that newspaper (The Sun?)

PWTorch.com is reporting that there has been talk in TNA lately of forming an ECW faction consisting of the current talents on the TNA roster that worked for the old ECW in the past. Currently, TNA has former ECW stars Rob Van Dam, Brother Ray, Brother Devon, Rhino, Raven, Dr. Stevie and Taz. Spike Dudley worked a taping last week and could be brought into the group, and as we reported before it is being rumored that Tommy Dreamer will be signing with TNA when his WWE no-compete clause expires.

Maybe if it weren't a takeover but a competition over styles? Heyman comes in as a critic of how TNA is run and uses his ECW loons to promote his style

just grasping at straws but an invasion angle with so many people already in charge would be clustered...

According to Dave Meltzer, Paul Heyman has reportedly either been directly offered or sent strong hints that he would be welcomed on the TNA creative team. Some officials want Heyman to work alongside Vince Russo. Heyman has given the impression that he has no interest in working for TNA.

People close to the situation have been talking openly about it and some of the ECW originals are talking like they expect Heyman to come in also. Word is that there was a better chance of Heyman working with TNA a few weeks ago but the more he hears about what's going on in the company, the less interested he becomes.

Vince Russo, as we have reported over the last several weeks, said he is going to take a break from writing, but will remain with the company and move to Nashville as noted last week. Russo intends to continue giving his input, but will remove himself as head writer. The move to step down was based solely on Russo, as he has been cited as being burnt out over the last few weeks.

With Russo’s decision to step down as head writer, Dave Meltzer reports that there has been an escalation in talk regarding Paul Heyman coming in. Those within TNA, and are close to Heyman, believe he will indeed sign with the company. Heyman signing with TNA would come off as a surprise when you consider his past relationship with Bischoff, whom have both thrown verbal jabs against one another throughout the 90’s decade.

This all seems a bit of wishful thinking

Maybe Russo is sick of Bischoff but with Impact creeping up in the ratings and getting some praise it would seem odd the most hated man in wrestling is burnt out now

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

- As noted before, TNA has hired a consulting firm to look at their TV numbers and interview fans for feedback. The memories from fans in the males 18-34 demographic of ECW were said to be strongly positive. Based on that research, Eric Bischoff is interested in doing an ECW-like stable in TNA. The idea would be to have Paul Heyman as the leader of the group with guys like Tommy Dreamer, Team 3D, Rob Van Dam, Taz, Dr. Stevie, Raven and Mick Foley, when he returns to the storylines.

There are conflicting reports on Heyman. Some close to him believe there’s a chance of him coming to TNA but others don’t believe it will happen, as a talent or writer. Heyman was being talked about a lot at the recent iMPACT tapings backstage. Heyman is currently working on two different books, one being an autobiography.

I think they should give this ago - though the team Hogan v Team Flar dynamic might be all the stables we need for now...
