Should Rey Mysterio join the SES?
« on: March 21, 2010, 02:11:12 pm »
I know, it's an unlikely scenario, but would it benefit Rey Mysterio, "creatively speaking".

He's been a babyface since he debuted with the company some 8 years ago, and in many respects his act has got stale for me.  Reinventing himself as a dark heel I'd like, I think storyline wise it could be great.  Obviously I'm guessing WWE would be against it since his merch is a big seller since he is one of the children's faves, but I can but hope, come Wrestlemania time, CM Punk FTW!

I'd think it would be a cool idea. The only problem i'd see is Rey playing 2nd fiddle to CM Punk. As we know (with the Ziggler incident last year) Rey does see himself in that 2nd tier in WWE, which is probally where Punk is too.

I'd be happy with the Idea of after Mania of Punk teaming with another bigger star (could be Rey) and becoming the Tag Champions (Say Morrison & RTruth win) so he could be on both brands coz i'm loving his preacher type gimmick and i think he's a good champion.

I can't see it happening but i'd love to see Punk on both brands for a bit

Could be a good idea.  As has been mentioned he's been a babyface during his time in WWE.  They can try a bit of a heel turn with him, if it doesn't work I'm sure it'd be easy enough to remedy.

His style doesnt suit a heel role - look at A J Styles

Crowd will always love the high flying guys - and if Mysterio alters that sure he'll draw heat - but not the right sort

^ If his knees and body are as banged up as people say, the heel role would benefit him from a wrestling point of view too.

A heel Mysterio might be interesting to see, but if he got rid of most of the high-flying stuff, what would he do then? I don't like the idea of Mysterio beating up some guy twice his size with his fists.... :P

I agree. It would be the equivalent of having Junkyard Dog, Koko B. Ware, Dusty Rhodes, etc. turn heel. Just will NOT work. There's just certain types of crowd favorites that will always have to remain that way.

You see i disagree. If you can make Hogan Heel then anyone can with the correct writing.

If he came out and crippled HBK with a chair.... then came out and beat up a women and then insult the fans and then preach like CM Punk does.... he'd be a heel. And to top it all if he started on about Eddie... He'd be booed. Which in essence is a heel.

He may have to chage his in-ring style to include less flashy moves.

Whether WWE and Rey want to put that much work into making him a heel is the question and to my mind they need him as their only credible Latino star. Plus you'd have to go OTT in making him a heel and that would probally be irreversable.

WWE makes millions on his merch. It will never happen. It would kinda be like trying to turn Jeff Hardy heel, the fans just wouldn't buy it as towards the end of Hardy's WWE run he was as over as anyone in the last 5 years, easily.

I think he is due for surgery anyway following Mania.
