HUGE NAME ANNOUNCES HE IS IN NEGOTIATIONS WITH WWE
by Mike Johnson @ 10:26 PM on 3/24/2010

Former WCW and WWE World champion Bill Goldberg announced via his twitter account that he in the midst of discussions with World Wrestling Entertainment.

"YES.. I am in negotiations with the WWE Looks like 'ole Hogan and TNA missed the boat. Shame for the fans they didn't even try. Anyone got any issues on the TNA side I suggest you bring it up with them. Truth is I never thought I'd even consider it........then came my son. No one said I'd wrestle but the door is open again"

Goldberg has publicly ruled out returning to the ring numerous times in recent years, so it's possible he is negotiating for a new professional relationship that wouldn't include a wrestling role. Goldberg last wrestled for WWE at Wrestlemania XX in 2004.

I was under the impression that he hated his time with the WWE.  I guess he needs the money and WWE can give him a lot more for him finanacially than TNA (dvd sets, mercandise etc.).

Meh. He became irrelevant once he lost the title in WCW. The whole Goldberg gimmick was built around that undefeated streak. He was never the same after that. The loyal, **** base evaporated immediately. If Mcmahon signs him, it'll be just to keep him away from TNA and Goldberg will have a very minor role in WWE.

Bank on it.

When Goldberg turned up in WWE with that arrogant entrance  I wasn't thinking 'oh goody a legend' I was thinking '**** off how dare a WCW guy take 20 mins to come to the ring'

Perhaps it's the way I was introduced to WCW via the 'invasion' angle but anything WCW just = crap in my mind. Guys like Sting have won me over with their TNA efforts but to me Goldberg is just 'that wrestler from that awful company', never thought he was worthy of the WWE title...

^ That's pretty much Vince's intention, to get everyone to think WCW were always crap.

Is there anyone from WCW other than Ric Flair that Vince didn't book/treat like crap?  Does Benoit or Guerrero count?

I've see a couple of posts that mention a "WCW" Themed Wrestlemania.  Could this Goldberg move be kinda connected to that?  Would probably make sense?

Course they count, also, Chris Jericho has done well for himself.  Booker T never got put over by Triple H at that Mania, but on the whole he got treated quite well.  How about the guy, erm, whats his name, er, Stunning Steve Austin  :P

Stunning Steve went to ECW first and Vince had him as the Ringmaster before Stone Cold came up with the stone Cold gimmack.

I think there are 2 kinds of WCW guys in Vinces Mind.

PRE BUYOUT. Guys Like Jericho, Austin, Foley, Benoit etc who jumped shipped or got fired from WCW when it was big and Vince brought them in and pushed them. He seemed happy to get stars away from WCW

Post Buyout WCW, Booker T, DDP, etc. After he bought out WCW those guys where treated like traitors and Vince used them to humiliate WCW

Apparently Goldberg still thinks its 1998.

As I've stated several times, this guy is worth almost nothing. He was a star for like 5 seconds and even his own legions of fans abandoned him after the streak ended.

Luckily for him he doesn't expect progress because he wont be getting any.

Former WWE and WCW World Hvt. champion Bill Goldberg is stil saying he wants one last wrestling match for his family to see him in the ring.

In an interview with the San Diego Union-Tribune, Goldberg said he would return to the ring "in two seconds" if he could negotiate a deal. He didn't disclose whether that would be with WWE, TNA, or another promotion.

"If the money was right, I'd go out there and do it in two seconds,” Goldberg said. "I'd have to be totally prepared for it, because I wouldn’t want to tarnish my image, but I'd like to be in the ring one more time so that my wife and my son can see me wrestle live."

Talk of Goldberg possibly returning to the ring has cooled off since WrestleMania 26 when Goldberg suggested he was talking to WWE about a send-off match. His unofficial send-off match was at WrestleMania 20 against Brock Lesnar when both wrestlers left the promotion under less-than-ideal circumstances.

Goldberg also talked about his love/hate relationship with wrestling in the interview. During his career, Goldberg developed a reputation for viewing wrestling as a springboard to other business projects.

"I don't ever want to say that I miss anything about the wrestling business," Goldberg said. "I miss the ability to put a smile on a kid's face, more than one at a time. That was a true charge for me."

Goldberg talks in-depth about his new "Garage Mahal" TV project. It's a good read on where Goldberg is personally and professionally.
