The end of Mr McMahon
« on: April 02, 2010, 11:04:40 am »
Vince McMahon’s evil “Mr. McMahon” character is said to be finished, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The character was spawned back in 1997 following the infamous Montreal Screwjob. McMahon’s on-air character turned heel for the first time and it became the antagonist to the company’s top star “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in arguably the best run in the history of the company.

With Bret Hart’s return to WWE after 13 years, McMahon felt WrestleMania would be the perfect chance for Bret Hart to get his ultimate revenge and wipe out Mr. McMahon once and for all. The over-the-top beatdown he sustained at the hands (and feet) of the Hart family signified the end of the character.

McMahon is a firm believer in pushing younger acts and is not blind to the fact that he’s in his 60’s and the character more than ran its course.

It's clearly time for the end of him as a wrestler - but not for his on screen presence

Saying that I am in favour of him standing down from WWE and having Stephanie and Triple H take over

WWE desperately needs a new approach, u can guess every match outcome a week in advance, it's so conventional it's like you've seen each ep already...

I think they are doing the broken leg angle to cover for him in case he comes off looking slow and labored. He is 52 and has been away from this type of action since 2000, not to mention a stroke. I'm pumped about this match. I don't know exactly what Bret is capable of doing. I hope its not all punches and kicks. I'd like to see Bret throw a European uppercut or 2. I don't know if he can do the Russian legsweep, any types of suplexes, a neckbreaker, I doubt he could pick Vince up to do a backbreaker, or any other trademark moves of his. I know its a street fight, but Bret always liked to pull of those moves and I'm sure he wants to do some of his old stuff if his body allows him to.

Is this the match that happened in March?? :weightlifting:

Since the subject matter here, is the end, or the supposed end, its interesting to see how quickly he changed his mind.

Initially I was happy he was gone, but to be honest, it's good to have him back, because let's be honest, as a talker and character he is one of the best guys around, and he knows it.  The facial expression alone when The Nexus were ready to beat him down was priceless, you can't teach guys that, they either have it or they don't.

Is he in this condition so that they can finally bring the Mr. McMahon character to an end?

I thought they were doing that at Wrestlemania...
