Swagger & Bourne On Raw
« on: July 10, 2009, 05:41:04 pm »
Ok i'm just wondering what you guys think they'll add to RAW.

Swagger and Bourne have both impressed me in different ways since entering WWE and i just wonder what they are really gonna offer.

Will they compete for titles and if so what one? One of the problem with bringing these young guns into ECW and letting them progress first is that you can't put them in reverse too easily. The usual progress of a wrestler through the ages has been:

Tag Wrestler - Perhaps Tag Champion - Converted to Singles - Low end titles (ECW) - Mid Card titles (IC,US) - Fight Bigger Names - World Champion.

The problem is now that guys like Swagger have skipped at least 2 important steps. Is Swagger being bought in to fight against Kofi? Could be a decent feud! or is he now just another midcard talent on RAW who they really don't have a plan for but didn't want him to keep getting beat on ECW.

Bourne is different but i find it even harder to see where he fits in. A feud between him and Kofi seems a bit rushed and pointless. So whats he gonna do? Get a partner and enter the tag division against guys like Edge/Y2J and Priceless or is he going to find himslef fighting lower midcard guys because he'll add a bit of excitement to RAW.

If anything Swagger would have been better on SD as a heel because with Edge & Jericho in the tag division they lack a real heel.

I just find it a bit puzzling.

Swagger has a VERY good feud set up with MVP, the segment with those 2 this week I really enjoyed.  Long term he needs to change his ring attire, I know it is to back up his amateur background but when they elevate him, I think if booked correctly he is a future World Champion.  And since I mentioned MVP, I think he needs to lose the Power Ranger outfit, although maybe the tats are holding them back from doing it.

Bourne is fun and will have some great feuds but is too small to get past midcard I think, Mysterio is the exception, not the rule.  I still think with some of the guys they have now a Cruiserweight league would be great, Bourne, Kidd, Primo, Noble, Chavo, Tatsu etc.

Yeah Swagger has loads of potential but so has many. I just think he needs to hit the ground running to keep his credibility he has built up on ECW. A feud with MVP will be good although i still think MVP has a lot of work (in-ring) before he is World Champion worthy.

Swagger would have to go over MVP clean on PPV for me to cement him as contender to be that level. I would quite like a Cena vs Swagger feud and eventully a HBK vs Swagger feud. I think he has that level of ability and will be a future champion. I just hope they don't wreck him by given him a few loses in quick sucsession.

A cruiserweight division has never worked in WWE for some reason. I think because you limit yourself by size.... A new title which is dominated by high flyers would be a nice idea.

I just think that to have one you need a feud to bring it to life and commit to it on PPV's (Like X-Div in TNA). A Mysterio vs Bourne series of matches would be brilliant. I'm not sure if guys like Kendrick, Haas & Shelton would fit in there with their size but they could be used better in that sort of environment too.

Swagger is a lot like Mr. Kennedy, you can see the potential, you can see he could Main Event but things could go totally wrong to, its a a tricky one, he's definately had a good start to his career though.

I remember a bit back Mysterio and Bourne had a very good match and they also teamed together and were great, sometimes random teams do work together, especially if they are entertaining, if those 2 had a 3-4 month reign with the belts before Bourne turned heel (he is actually a very good heel amazingly) I'd like that, but they are on seperate brands for now.  I remember my favourite Bourne match was when he faced Matt Hardy on PPV for the ECW Title, they had a cracking bout.  For now it seems Bourne is in a 3-Way feud for the US Title with Kofi Kingston and Big Show..  As I've said before, I'd like that if you removed Big Show from the equation, heck replace him with The Brian Kendrick.

I was skimming names off the top there, I missed Kendrick to, although to be honest I'm not too fussed about Helms these days.

I think he is a better wrestler than Kennedy was though.  Kennedy got over by saying his name in a loud and over the top fashion.  I like what I've seen of Swagger in ECW and I think he'll do well on Raw.

Aye I wasn't likening them on talent so much more the way people see them, everyone thought Kennedy would be a sure fire top guy and a lot of us see this in Swagger but nothings a sure thing, having him feud with MVP is a great start though, they clearly have faith in him again, I was annoyed when they left him off Wrestlemania.

Seeing Swagger get the ECW strap and now a nice spot on Raw makes me feel like a proud father. I knew this dude would be huge from the first time i saw him wrestle.
