TNA personality Bubba the Love Sponge has been fired following a radio stunt earlier this week.

The Tampa radio shock-jock — real name Todd Clem — ambushed female wrestling star Awesome Kong during a call-in interview on the Cowhead show.

In a rare public firing, a statement posted last night on the TNA Website read: "Effective immediately, TNA Wrestling has elected to terminate the services of Todd Clem aka Bubba the Love Sponge."

TNA dismissed Clem, the foul-mouthed and acid-tongued radio host, for what is believed to be racially charged slurs against Stevens.

Following the announcement Clem wrote several insults aimed at TNA fans on his Twitter page, as well as the following: "I was going to take the high road but looks like TNA has fired the first shot."

Clem, 44, surfaced on TNA earlier this year shortly after friend Hulk Hogan signed with the company, acting in a manager-like capacity for wrestling team The Band.

Isn't it funny that they are just getting rid of all the people us on this board knew they shouldn't have employed in the first place.

Why the hate for Moore? He's quite good?

Hall is great - mic skills, fan following and, judging by the weightloss, right attitude

Bubba is a horrendous human being, Dixie comes off badly for ever letting him in
