Only a few months ago, the team of Vance Archer & Curt Hawkins were making serious waves in WWE after fighting their way into earning SmackDown contracts. But after suffering some disappointing losses in recent weeks, including a Handicap Match against Big Show, the team looked to be splintering. This developing animosity reared its ugly head tonight as Archer and Hawkins erupted into a war of words after a miscue caused Archer to clothesline his partner instead of Chris Masters. But the hostility didn?t end there. After Archer lost the match, Hawkins attacked him and nailed him with a huge elbow drop from the top rope. After a brutal act like that, it doesn?t take a genius to see where this team is headed.

 :(

Splitsville.

I have to admit that a proper tag team division isn't something I long for (though I wouldn't mind if they had one), but WWE's constant breaking up of tag teams is baffling. They're doing it to two teams right now! I mean, at least the Harts got to be champs for a while, Hawkins and Archer just came along, won a few matches. became jobbers and now that's it. ???

This is an excerpt from "Powerslam" magazine this month:

(Speaking of the Gate Crashers) in their return on Smackdown on Sep 24th they were slaughtered by Big Show in a handicap match in 1.15. Matt Striker may well have revealed the reason for this on commentary. "I gave Curt Hawkins a ride to the airport last week with a WWe executive," said Striker, as Show bounced Hawkins around the ring like a jobber. "[Hawkins] made the executive sit in the back seat, and then spent 20 minutes talking about himself. He said how he was better than Shawn Michaels, how he was better than everyone, and he deserves to be a star. There's a difference between being confident and cocky." If that is a true story (and we believe it is), it's hard to have sympathy for Hawkins.
