Title reigns mean nothing today as it once did, I can remember when Ric Flair would hold the NWA World title for a year, and a little fact that goes under the radar Ricl Flair is the only man in wrestling history who defend the NWA World title 365 that means he where ever he went he defended the title. That is unheared on these days the reason why there are no long title reigns is because of the fans they don't want to see their so called heroes not have the title!
It kills me when I see someone win the World title only to lose it after 2 months or God forbid lost it on the same night that is stupid too me! The World title should mean something it has have some honor about it but it does not because EVERYONE WANTS TO BE THE WORLD CHAMPION! And that is sad because honestly CM Punk should be World champion for longer than a month or two, he should have carried the belt for at least 6 months top. I mean when John Cena and Triple H have title runs they hold the title for almost 5 months before someone can beat them. I can remember back in 2004 or 2006 Triple H held the WWE title for almost 6 months and every wrestling fan I knew was crying about how he did not deserve that long of a title run. Now I am not a huge Triple H fan but hey when you are the WWE top heel and no Face can come close to you then you deserve to have a long title run.
I want to change gears here for a few minutes let's talk about the people who ONLY DESERVE ONLY 1 TITLE RUN and nothing more!
1. Jeff Hardy- I like Jeff I think he is awesome inside that ring, but he is one move away from being in a wheelchair for life!
2. Edge- LOL.....this dude is the Iron Shiek of 2000 meaning he is okay champion until someone else comes along and is better than Edge.
3. Big Show- Yeah he is HUGE but he is also as exciting as two snails in a race but yet he is like a 5 time World Champion, and I beat me head trying to figure out why.
4.Mankind- Anyone remember how many times he held WWE World title? Three times and to be honest I don't think he deserve any of this title runs, but he got three of them.
5.Diesel a.k.a Kevin Nash- This dude is right there with the Big Show only difference is Nash can do more not much more than Big Show but he has a little more talent. Anyone remember when he was WWE Champion? Don't worry if you don't because it was not that big of a thing, his reign was more like pulling teeth from a chicken if you know what I mean.
6. Sid Justice or Psyco Sid- Whatever you know him as he held the WWE World Title twice and he was about as interesting as two old people talking about the good old days!
7. Booker T- Was a five time, five time, WCW World Champion and a 1 time WWE World Champion six title runs altogether and you know what for the life I can not remember what he did to deserve those title runs!
8. Scott Steiner- 2 times WCW World Champion, I am sorry D but this man title runs where BORING and I just don't understand why would you put a title on a twice if you know he is boring.
I could go on and on about who had World title and how mant title reigns they had but I would bore you too death as well as bore myself. I think if you are going to put the title on someone it should be someone who has the talent to care it for a long time, and just because they are huge and have muscle does not mean they are going to be a good champion. Just look how long the Big Show title reigns went and you will see my point.
Now I would l;ike to talk about the wrestlers who did deserve many times title reigns.
1.Ric Flair- 16 time World Heavyweight Champion- Simply Put, "To Be The Man, You have to Beat The Man!"
2.Hulk Hogan- I do not remember how many title reigns the Hulkster had Brother but like it or not he help bring wrestling to the mainstream and help carried the WWE for a long time.
3.HBK- Once again I am not sure on how many title runs HBK has had but one thing I can say about him is that he deserve the title "The ShowStopper" Because he brought the show to the masses!
4."Stone Cold" Steve Austin- I am not clear on how title runs he had but he deserve his title runs because like Hogan carried the WWE when people thought WCW was going to put WWE out of business for sure.
5. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes- 3 Times NWA World Champion, the son of plumber who had a dream, no it was Amercian Dream to become a World Champion he did it three times. Believe me when I say Dusty earn those title runs and as the scars to show for it.
6. The Rock- 7 Times WWE World Champion, what can I say "Shut your hole and know your role!" The Rock could walk the walk and talk the talk when he was inside that ring and he did it seven times if you can small what I am cooking here!
7. Jeff Jarrett- 2 time WCW World Champion and 8 times NWA World Champion. You may not like this one but hey Jeff Jarrett help bring a struggle promotion like TNA to where it is now that says a lot about good old JJ. Anyone remember that gimmick?
8. Bret Hart- 5 times WWE World Champion and 1 time WCW World Champion, The Best There Is The Best There Was The Best There Ever Will Be. Plain and simple this man wrestle the last of a dying breed in pro wrestling. Bret could tell a story inside that ring, and he did it five times in era when the flashy style of wrestling was taking over in the WWE.
Finally I would like to say not everyone can be a World Champion and I am afraid to say I am seeing a trend where every wrestler in the WWE is wanting to be World Champion, I know it is good dream to have but let's face it all these many title reigns is kills what is suppose to be the most valuable title in wrestling.
