Bret Hart's WWE Return!
« on: September 24, 2009, 12:29:52 am »
source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter

For the first time since the infamous “Montreal Screwjob” in 1997, Bret Hart is said to be open to returning to World Wrestling Entertainment as a weekly storyline character.

Hart has had business talks with WWE in recent months, which played a part in the company rehashing “Montreal” at last week’s Breaking Point pay-per-view — in case he agrees to return.

While nothing yet has been agreed upon, nor should one expect anything to happen anytime soon, he is no longer against returning to WWE. In the past he has said he didn’t see himself ever coming back as a character on television because he could no longer wrestle and didn’t want to become some authority figure or manager.

WWE has had talks over the years regarding Hart returning to the company as a character. In fact, Vince McMahon told the creative team in 2006 that he was going to do a street fight with Hart on a pay-per-view. Of course, it never came to be and Hart at the time was saying that he was never going to wrestle again. Apparently, Hart was tentatively penciled in to team up with Shawn Michaels vs. Vince and Shane McMahon at Backlash 2006 instead of “God.”

Would be cool. They could have some rival faction kicking the **** out of DX and doing crazy stuff to them and the mastermind be Bret Hart.

Maybe he is mellowing.

Or this could just be a bullshit report.

But after all he has said over the years it seems odd.

To be fair to Bret, he has cooperated with WWE and Vince in the past with the DVD set, HOF, and that one brief promo in 2007.  Axl hasn't come close to doing anything with Slash unless you count producing Live Era or the lawsuit prohibiting Greatest Hits from being released.

If he comes back,  I'd like to see the heel Bret make an appearance (the post wrestlemania 13 Bret) that  was an awesome transformation of his traditionally babyface character.  It'd work great too vs the reformed DX.  He could even enlist Jericho and they could both bash Shawn Michaels!

Had this been 13-5 years ago, there would've been absolutely no chance of Bret being a heel going against a face Michaels.

...But given the main focus of the WWE, seems to be 11 year olds and younger, who weren't born back then... *Sigh*

agreed, but he'd have to be a face i think.

Personally i don't think he'd work a program with HBK. But i think a program with Vince would be brilliant. He won't wrestle but a a stable war would be great.... with Vince having a new corporation kinda thing vs Bret's stable.

Like Izzy says it doesn't have to use the biggest stars of the company but would be a brilliant storyline and might get some actual decent wrestlers over.

There will be an angle revolving around that overblown Montreal crap and we'll see Vince vs Bret to settle the score once and for all.

Its inevitable, yet pointless.

I wont be watching.

After last nights RAW you really have to wonder now if negotiations have moved on.

To put his name out there like that, I'd assume plans may well be in place.

I wonder if as Guest Host his segments would "Avoid" Michaels & Triple H or if they'd be directly interacting with each other.  He may not be able to wrestle again but I'm sure he could manage a low blow and Sharpshooter to Michaels as the show goes off the air.

Jim Neidhart said at an autograph signing this past weekend in Long Island, New York that WWE is working on a DVD looking at The Hart Foundation, likely the whole family and not just Neidhart and Bret Hart’s tag team. Apparently Neidhart just finished shooting some interviews for the project.

With WWE teasing a return by Bret Hart on last night’s RAW, this adds to the speculation that Bret might be returning to WWE in some fashion.

How about the Hart Dynasty take the titles off D-X with a little help from Bret? I'm sure its an option thats been discussed coz i'm sure that after Mania the tag titles will move away from the Main Eventers.

Whatever i'd like to see Bret smash HBK in the head with a chair to cost them the title. :steelchair: ;D

During last night's WWE RAW telecast, WWE Hall Of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart was teased as a potential guest host for a future edition of RAW.

According to ProWrestling.net, the mere mention of Hart on RAW would lead some to believe that WWE has at least approached Hart about making an appearance. The website went on to claim that Hart could potentially host the January 4th edition of the show.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com is also speculating that Hart could possibly be doing something at Wrestlemania 26 with Vince McMahon.

Obviously this is all strictly speculation. More details should be coming out in the next day or so.

JR on Bret Hart possibly hosting RAW: The teasing of Bret Hart potentially hosting Raw was cool. That was the first that I had officially heard of any sort of 'Hitman' return but it's always good to see Bret in any forum and one would think that the WWE HOF'er would enhance the ratings for Raw when and if Bret does make an appearance. Could that particular appearance occur on January 4? Your guess is as good as mine.
