I liked it. The first 2 matches were nothing to write home about and neither was the Women's bout, but the other 3 I enjoyed.
Mysterio and 'Taker worked well together and had the best singles match of the night, both guys looked strong and their were some good near finishes and interesting counters based on the small man, big man dynamic. The commentary at times was horrendous (throughout the night), but in this match you probably had one of the worst comments (only beaten by Striker saying Edge "Doesn't look his old self" later and Lawler out of character saying "You what?") where Lawler talked about how shocked he was to see Undertaker bleeding, he didn't know Undertaker, bled, or that the blood would be....red. It sounded plain retarded, especially considering the wealth of blade jobs he has done over the years
Randy Orton appeared to be uber over, the crowd were very much behind him and his match with Sheamus was enjoyable, even with the cheap finish as it worked with the storyline of Legacy breaking up, bit by bit, although The Legacy (Tag Team), looked scared and weak when Orton attacked them and later in the Rumble match they didn't get much of a look in either, I really wonder whether creative care about these 2 at times.
I thought it was a good idea to keep a decent pace in the Rumble match, too often the match gets slowed down with 7 or 8 guys filling the ring, lying on the canvas, waiting for a big man to just come down and clear the ring. I thought CM Punk was superb to start with, the Rumble gave him a chance to get his heel gimmick over some more, made him look strong, and my only criticism is that he didn't get to stay in the match longer. I was shocked to see Triple H go out so soon, for those who read spoilers, he had been touted as the winner. R-Truth was a surprise to, I thought he was getting a moderate push, but to single handedly eliminate Show and Henry was quite the rub. Swagger must getting most stupid face when running to the ring award, he looked so goofy its untrue. Matt Hardy looks to be in the bad books, or just forgotten, he had a cup of coffee appearance, if that. Edge's return although predicated, was a great to see, and at the time, a nice surprise since there were 2 spots left and in my head I knew Regal AND Batista were still to come. HBK's put in a solid performance as usual, and seeing the way he reacted when he got eliminated really sold the fact that he is beyond desperate for a match with Undertaker, he once another good chapter in that storyline, I also thought it was a good elimination, the way he teetered on the edge, for a brief second I thought he'd fallen by mistake, especially since after Triple H's elimination I thought he'd win and get his shot.
The Rumble now leaves some interesting questions, Edge has the shot, who will he face? HBK needs to find a way to face Undertaker, but how? Will D-X finally split? Will Triple H be able to earn a title shot?
