Current backstage talk suggests that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be the guest hosting the first RAW of 2010 on January 4th in Dayton, Ohio.

The Rock's newest film "Tooth Fairy" comes out on January 22, so it would make sense that he comes on the 1/4 show, if not the 1/11 or 1/18 shows.

As noted before, Ozzy Osbourne is set to host an episode of WWE’s Monday Night RAW soon. Word is that Ozzy and his wife Sharon will be hosting the November 2nd RAW from Worcester, Massachusetts.

Re: the Sheffield, UK show.  Would any of these make for a good host?  Although I can't see it being the Osbornes as having read this thread it appears they are due to host somewhere else.

Am I mad in hoping that Simon Cowell would make a ggood host out of the ones mentioned?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/wrestling/2678815/We-look-at-runners-and-riders-for-WWE-Raw-guest-host-in-the-UK.html

IN JUST under four weeks, WWE rolls into Sheffield in one of their twice-annual sojourns to our shores, bringing their television cameras with them to film their weekly TV shows.

The Monday Night Raw Guest Host experiment started in June this year, and has continued with every Monday a new face from the world of Sport, Entertainment or even Sports Entertainment taking the reins.

We're fans of the Guest Host concept, but the trouble is that WWE keep finding celebs who are known seemingly only in the US.

Watching shows with Bob Barker, Jeremy Piven, Cedric the Entertainer and so forth have had their moments, but often leave us a little cold as we don't get the knowing references.

So, when the Raw bandwagon rolls into South Yorkshire, not only will your SunSport team will be there, but so will another guest host. And one we're more familiar with, we hope.

But who exactly? We've drawn up a list of contenders that might get the job for the night.

Vinnie Jones

THE former Wimbledon defender turned movie star would seem a perfect fit for Wrestling.

The hard man image he cultivated on the football pitch followed onto the big screen, where he has starred in films like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and X-Men: The Last Stand.

The latter film is important in this, because his role as Juggernaut made him known in the US, and some of his lines have become the subject of Internet parody.

He also has form with WWE.

Eleven years ago, at "Capital Carnage", a UK-only PPV, he appeared as a Special Enforcer, even drinking a beer with Stone Cold Steve Austin.

He would meet Austin again many years later, starring against the Texas Rattlesnake in the WWE-produced movie The Condemned.

Add in a small appearance at No Way Out 2007, a previous guest-host experience (alright, it was only The Friday Night Project) and the fact that he played one season for Sheffield United, and Jones becomes a strong contender.

Ricky Hatton

THE wrestling world has been buzzing with suggestions that Bret Hart might at some point return to WWE recently, but it may be more likely that we a different "Hitman" on Raw first.

WWE are likely to want a Brit to host, but one with a US profile.

Hatton would fit that after multiple title fights stateside.

His defeat to Floyd Mayweather did big business on both sides of the Atlantic, while his bout with Manny Pacquiao saw Hatton's opponent accompanied by WWE superstar Dave Batista.

Hatton beat Carlos Maussa in the very same arena where Raw will be held in 2006, retaining one world Title and gaining another.

Mayweather has had extensive involvement with WWE, will his former opponent Ricky follow him?

Simon Cowell

Although Ricky and Vinnie might be good candidates for Guest Host appearances, it usually goes that the temporary GM has something to plug.

Unless Jones has a movie coming out or Hatton is plotting a comeback fight, we're not sure they will have the motivation to get involved.

Simon Cowell, though, is the king of self-publicity, and right now he has something to publicise.

Raw in Sheffield will come slap-bang in the middle of the latest series of X-Factor, and seemingly not a day goes by during the show's run that there isn't some sort of X-Factor story doing the rounds.

Whether Louis has been sacked, Cheryl and Dannii hate each other or Dermot O'Leary's Guinea Pig has Swine Flu, there is always something.

What better way of generating some new publicity than taking the X-Factor roadshow to Sheffield for Raw?

Cowell is well-known stateside, principally for his role in American Idol, and with his cynical way of judging contestants he'd seem nailed on for a role as a heel.

If he could bring some of his cohorts along, it could be publicity overhaul.

Imagine Cheryl pictured alongside the divas.

Or maybe a fatal fourway in the main event, with an X-Factor judge in each corner? It's a yes from us.

Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne

AS great a host as Mr Cowell would make, we it's another reality show judge who is the likely favourite. Alongside her famous husband, of course.

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne would be a perfect fit on a transatlantic level, having had great exposure both in the UK and the states.

Sharon has been a judge on X-Factor here and on across the pond on America's got Talent, while their reality show The Osbournes was pioneering in its genre.

They tick the publicity and past experience boxes too. Ozzy appeared at Wrestlemania 2 alongside the British Bulldogs, and just two years ago sang live on Smackdown.

He currently has an autobiography out and is bringing back his rock festival OZZfest next year.

It might be the return of Heavy Metal in the Steel city.

What the hell is 'access hollywood'? Tv show? Dimensional doorway? Tour guide?

What in the hell is WWE up to - why not just take a cameraman and tell the audience he's some NFL guy, after all no one knows who these people are anyway, they could tell us anything!!

Actor Verne Troyer, Mini Me from the Austin Powers movies, is rumored to be hosting WWE’s Monday Night RAW some time this Fall. Imagine what they will come up with for Verne and Hornswoggle.

Should be good, I wonder whether for "safety's sake" they'll pre-record all their segments backstage...
